Hi everyone,

I'm new here. Newly armed with heathers books. So far have had some sucess with things - but a long way to go to really work out a few 'not sure' foods out there!!

Anyway I'm a little perplexed that when I read others symptoms - mine seem a bit different.
I don't always get dioreah (well not half as bad since I cut out milk, peanuts, and chocolate 4 months ago!)

But my reaction seems to be more often - a constant dull ache - not in the tummy, but down low in the anal passage. I don't often get the cramping tummy - but do soemtimes if I need to go within 10 mins of eating a meal.
This dull ache could be there for days mildly and not be too unbearable ... or it can be throbbing and constant, which drives me nuts and stops me rom sleeping or concentrating.
I've had the good old colonoscopy and numerous blood tests for various things - none of which showed up any allergies, deficiencies - but which did show what the gp says is 'higher than usual levels of imflamation somewhere' whilst scratching his head and dismissing me with IBS.

Oh - I also had constant mouth ulcers - which have stopped immediately since I started this diet of Heathers - only a week ago. Usually I would have multiple mouth ulcers at any given time, which make it hard to talk at times!!

I also have a constant rash - which was also tested/biopsied for celiacs but is all clear.
I WAS using a corticosteriod everyday for this rash and have also stopped using this cream a few weeks ago - because I had a suspicion it was causing more side effects than it was helping!! (incidentally, rash now 30% better than it was - better off without the cream!).

Does anyone think these symptoms are out of order for IBS?

Cheers ALL
John

I would check out the Crohn's and Colitis board on this website. They may be able to help you. I have my suspicions that it may be one of those two. The inflammation and ulcers in the mouth I think are symptoms of one of them, but I'm not sure.

Hi John,

Glad to see you made it on the boards. Hopefully you got my email about seeing a doctor. If they don't take you seriously, then find someone who will!

Hope to see you around more often!

John, you said, "what the gp says is 'higher than usual levels of imflamation somewhere' whilst scratching his head and DISMISSING ME with IBS." {Emphasis added.) This is so typical! What's up with that?!? I had the same problem with my GI doc. After his diagnosis, he dismissed me when I wanted/needed some help and/or some meds, telling me to contact my regular doctor.

Jennifer is right, John. If they don't take you seriously, then find someone who will!

BTW -- welcome to the Boards!

Bev.
