I was wondering when you grind fennel seeds in a coffee grinder so they can be stronger; do you grind them til they are powder or just grind them a little?

Never used a coffee grinder. I just use a mortar and pestle. I think breaking them up just helps release the more potent stuff on the inside. I don't know if you need to grind it too much.

Where do you guys get fennel seeds? I've just bought some straight fennel tea, but the smell is putting me off!

I HATE the taste of fennel. YUK! I don't know that the seeds would be any better. I bought several different brands of fennel tea, and I found that "Tummy Mint" by Celestial Seasonings was the only one I could drink. The flavor of licorice was too strong in the other brands -- I had to throw them out. If you don't like the smell of fennel, try "Tummy Mint." The peppermint overpowers the fennel.
