I have ibs-c and i was thinking of getting a belly piercing this week. I was wondering if its possible that it could be a problem with having ibs. Could it affect it in any way?

I don't know, I think that unless they hit some nerve ending you should be OK. I'm not sure if it hurts when you get bloated, though, because of the additional pressure . Hopefully others will have more insight. My belly is actually the part of my body that I've self conscious about since it's bloated all the time and makes me look huge and pregnant. I cover it up as much as I can

I don't see how it would affect IBS as they only peirce the skin. I don't have one myself but know plenty of people who have gotten them. Be sure to keep it cleaned and disinfected as they are VERY susceptible to infection!
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

I had my belly pierced 10 years ago and I don't beleive that it has had any affect on IBS. It did take a while longer than most people to completely heal but i took care to clean the wound and I'm glad i got it done.
