I have never been on a message board before. So I guess I'll just type my question and see what happens. Can someone that is having problems with Diverticulitis use the Heathers Tummy Fiber as long as they follow guidelines to ease into taking the product? Using Benefiber does not seem to help.

Hello Swanee, I don't know anything about diverticulitis - I just wanted to say hello and welcome you! Good luck!

What is Diverticulitis. Is it like Ulcertive colitis? If it is usually more fiber does not help, it harms. Makes you have more D.

I was hoping someone would answer your question. I was Dx with diverticulitis and it was very close to rupturing and spilling the contents of the bowel into the abdominal cavity. Now Dr. says it is IBS and to eat lots of fiber. The tummy fiber made my pain worse and more contsipated. citrucel seems to help the pain and constipation, but even the Dr. won't answer quetions such as this. I'm wondering if I really have IBS as what seems to help people on this board, seems to make my constipation and therefore pain worse. I guess it depends if you have constipation or diahreah. Every time I see fiberous foods, I'm just seeing everything going into those pouchs and it exploding. My friends have told me to avoid seeds, nuts, and of all thing, lettuce. They said everytime they eat lettuce they are back in the hospital. When I see a tiny seed or husks in oatmeal, I freak out, as I don't want surgery to peritonitis, but I would like to find someone with some answers for diverticulitis, too. I have been taking a probiotic and vitamin supplements as I have lost 20 lbs. I just don't know what to eat and I'm trying to keep a journal. I don't know if any of this helps, but hopefully there is a sight for diverticulitis suffers, but I haven't found it yet.
