I have exams coming up next week...Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday...4 hours each day..but on Monday i have two exams each 4 hours long, so 8 hours total for monday
I am IBS-D but heather's diet has made me relatively stable this year, but I have a problem with bloating and gas...i have been limiting my self to turkey sandwiches with just mustard and a little lettuce for the last 3 days and still have pretty bad gas so any suggestions on how to get through this week in terms of gas, as sitting down in a room with 70 of my classmates for 4 hours straight is just stressing me out even more..plus i have two on Monday. My friends who have the same two exams on Monday are stressing out and don't have the added pressures of IBS, so what am I suppose to do?

Hello,
First of all BREATHE!! And just think its only 1 week not months or several of weeks. So look at it as a small project so its not so overwhelming.
Turkey sandwiches are good but NO lettuce. Thats probably giving you the gas. Instead, try to get some unsweetened apple sauce cups to have with the sandwich. Also, try to get some Natural peanut butter to make some FF saltines snacks. So its protein and SF. okay and also try to get some LARA or LUNA bars sold at target and many other stores. The LUNA bars have soy protein and are yummy. Easy meal replacement.
Good luck!! seriously on this subject do not drink if possible. well not beer its going to make it waaaay worse on the IBS. Trust me I have been in your shoes, its been years since I am in my thirties now. But I wish someone told me this..LOL HUGS

Make sure the turkey is organic or has no preservatives. Otherwise it does cause incredible gas!!!!! Good luck on your exams. Just take it one day at a time and if you take imodium or antispasmotics if you have to.

First, relax! (I know, easier said than done, but try anyway!)
I found that my bloating and gas improved greatly when I started eating Rice-based cereals for breakfast - like Rice Krispies and Special K. Rice is the only carbohydrate the body breaks down without producing any gas whatsoever. I haven't had to do an exam in almost 10 years, but if I had to do one now, I think I'd be eating Rice Krispies with rice milk for breakfast, and a turkey sandwich with no lettuce for lunch. The rice breakfast will keep you gas-free all morning, and it'll be at least a couple of hours before your sandwich makes you gassy (if at all).
GOOD LUCK!!
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!
