What's an IBS safe stimulant for days when I feel like I can't go on without a hot strong cup of java? I have a coke on occasion but only in times when I feel pretty good which is not the case right now. I don't want to drink tea because of the caffeine in it and herbal tea technically isn't a "tea" . Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel like I'm going to fall asleep any moment

Oh honey, I don't know. I've always loved herb tea and rarely drank coffee. Lemons give you boost of energy and grapefruits. My mom always told me to eat lemons before exams because they clear your head. Maybe you could try that. Sorry, can't help much.

Have you tried Teeccino? It's a coffee substitute, IBS-safe (contains some inulin but isn't enough to bother most people) and is a good source of potassium, which gives you a little lift.

Thanks girls!
note to self - buy lemons . Too bad I didn't know this in college, I could have saved myself all those tummy troubles associated with drinking too much coffee
Teeccino? No, I haven't tried that. I drink Caro which is also a coffee substitute but I'm not sure about its potassium levels. Maybe I should eat a banana which is also a good source potassium.

Can you tolerate a granola bar? They say that granola is a natural energy source....Also taking a brisk 10 minute walk always helps to wake me up, especially because it's getting cooler outside.

I'd have to check out granola bars from my local HFS since I don't trust the supermarket ones (maybe I should check if they have organic). Thanks!
