Soy constipates me

I started eating soy and started getting constipated really bad. I noticed that soy is high in iron so that's why I get constipated. My multi-vitamin is even without iron....
-------------------- IBS-C since 2006. No signs of IBS now, it's been 4 yrs. Only dairy allergy now.

Is Soy constipating then? I've started having soy milk every morning for the last week and i've been really constipated as well. Gutted if it's soy that's causing it as i love soy milk.

I haven't been constipated in months but then recently I started using soy and now I'm constipated every day. I am positive that soy is causing that for me.

Here is an NIH MedLine web page on soy. It says "Soy protein taken by mouth has been associated with stomach and intestinal difficulties such as bloating, nausea, and constipation"

Funny you should mention that. I'm not IBS-D but if I have bowls of cereal with Soy milk throughout the day, I get the D rumblings in my tummy and will either have a loosey goosey BM or no BM at all and just the tummy rumblings. I wonder if it's because Soy milk has a similar consistency as cow milk and my insides think they're getting cow's milk. But if I make my oatmeal with Soy Milk or a strawberry-banana smoothie, I'm fine. Good God next thing you know I'm going to be analyzing the molecular make up of all of my foods!

I know. It's ridiculous at times. I seem to be OK as long as it's not a lot. A luna bar, or bread made with soy is OK. Heather's butternut squash recipe, soy rice pudding, more than a small portion of soy ice cream, the reaction is very definite.
I can't think that your tummy is mistaking soy for cow. Maybe you have more soy in your system when you have bowls of cereal throughout the day? Maybe it's a SF to IF buffer difference. I dunno. It's so hard to figure out sometimes.
