Hi everyone...!! I have been taking acacia (worked up to 1tsp 1/4 thus far) and following the diet. I have a GI appt. in August and all my bloodwork/stool tests have come back normal thus far. I have not had a "D" blow out, or cramps the past 12 days (yippy- thank God). I think I still need a bit more acacia because I still feel the need to "poop" even after going (not always)...and my bms are formed but still a bit off. I am still a bit anxious not trusting my stomach noises...

Can I ask what people mean when they mean stable? Also, do I sound stable..or could more acacia help out with the remainder of symptoms?

I have incorporated some fruit, and veggies in addition to the diet.

Thanks so much for all your help. I had been losing weight like crazy...and now I seem to be stablizing.

Again, thanks.

Do a search of the message board. This topic has come up many times before.

I will search...I just wonder if it has changed for some since then. Or newbies might have something to offer. Syl...how long have you been stable? Thanks!!

I have been stable for about 1 1/2 years. The biggest improvement came when I got my SF/IF ratio right and eliminated all high fructose foods from my diet. Stable generally means that you can carry on daily activities without IBS getting in the way. It does not mean that you are symptom free

Jennifer, I totally understand what you mean by saying you don't trust your stomach and the noises...that is a lot of my problem also.

Let me ask you though, I have been scared to try the acacia fiber, I do have it. How did you start off, and did you notice any reactions? I.e. did you have bloating, gas or cramping...or "d" ? Have you tried the peppermint tea also?

Sometime I feel like okay I'm stable...but really I'm not, because I'm only eating bread and rice and small portions of protein. I feel that I will be stable once I can eat a variety of things and only minorly suffer from Ibs...sometimes. Keep hope alive right?

Have you tried yoga or thought about it? I'm going to try.

I too am loosing weight like crazy...my dr. is concerned and sending me to three specialist next week. (nutritionist, gastro, and mental health for a possible eating disorder) I don't think they understand the pain and anxiety that comes with ibs...heck...that's my eating disorder! lol.

But, I do know that I have anxiety about eating, and don't eat enough...so that I have to work on.

Congrats on not having a "D" blow out...I know what a wonderful feeling of hope that is...you seem to be on the right track..

KIKi...I do take acacia...I started out with 1/2 tsp daily..and now am up to 1 tsp 1/2. I feel much better, and my stomach noises are so much improved. I have incorporated tomatoes, apple slices, and egg whites this weekend...with no problems thus far. I understand your anxiety...and honestly, know where you are coming from. I am glad you are going to talk with someone...sounds like a good idea. I do plan on getting into yoga or tai chi...just working it into my schedule now.

When I was eating the eggs this morning I felt nauseas...I was worried (we were out at a restaurant). However, all is well. You just have to keep trying...even when it is frightening.

Keep up all the hard work.

Syl...thanks for your help.
