Was it the watermelon?

Hi I was just wondering if watermelon is safe or a if? I had it wed, sat, and today and after I ate i had bad d for about hour and was bad. I don't know if it was this or something elese? I did go a while with out eating could that of been it? I don't know how I'm suppose to add new if. If I get d all the time after i do? Thanks in advance for listening! emmasmom ibs-c

Hi emmasmom,
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe watermelon is IF and is made of lots of water......And I think it's safe depending on each individual, I can eat it as long as I have a good SF first and with it, like in a fruit salad with bananas and peeled apples.....since you had it so many days even though they were spaced it may have been the culprit. Hope this helps

Watermelon is high in excess fructose and low in IF. It is quite common for people that are sensitive to fruits that have high amounts of fructose to experience D soon after eating watermelon.

You can try eating again when you are stable. If it causes D again then you should consider not only not eating watermelon but removing apple, pear, mango and other fruits/juices high in fructose from your diet for awhile.

Thats intresting that you say that I don't like apple or pears but i also had a little part of a mango friday.. I do fine with peaches strawberrys and nectarines. so it could of just been it and not the watermelon? So do i give my body a few days to get back to "normal" with out the d I feel ok today not the best but ok. So say try it or something new again in a few days? How many days to you wait to try something new? thanks for your help. emmasmom ibs-c gas gas gas

Apricot, nectarine, peach, plum can be high in sorbitol - a sugar alchol - which can also produce D in some people. Perhaps stick with banana, berry and citrus fruits for a few days until you feel stable and then start to experiment with things like watermelon, mango, peaches, etc and see what happens.
Keep us posted as to what you experience.
