Hello all,

New poster here. Since discontinuing Effexor 7 or 8 weeks ago (I was on 75mg for 6 years, tapered down to 37.5 and then off) I've had continual gastro problems. I think I have IBS as

1) I have all the symptoms
2) The same foods that bother people with IBS bother me as well
3) I've recently begun (thanks to the info Heather has on her site) begun to eat a IBS "safe food" diet and have noticed considerable results (although I've gotten two D attacks in the past few days. I think it was because I ate out and had grilled chicken, with the skin on it)

I'm going to see a Gastro doctor on the 4th to confirm what I think I have.

Anywho (back to the reason I made this post )

As I said, I've stopped taking my Effexor 8 weeks ago and have been dealing with these symptoms ever since. Has anyone else discontinued from Effexor and had the same results?

I was on effexor for an anxiety disorder, but I found that while I was on it, my IBS symptoms TOTALLY disappeared. It was SOOOO awesome!
I'm really glad you're going to a GI. Maybe consider going back on it if the IBS is really a problem. A lot of people have found good luck on anti depressants helping to ease their IBS symptoms. Now whether the effexor withdrawl caused IBS, I don't know - but I'd say very unlikely.
