I know we are not supposed to have alcohol w/IBS. However, the holidays are coming up and usually wine is offered at these parties. Is one glass gonna do me in? I drank wine probably once or twice a week before I got pregnant with my son. I developed the IBS after giving birth so I have not drank in a long time and would not know how this would affect me.

Unfortunately, there's only one way to find out...try it and see what happens. The best time to try would be AFTER eating a safe meal and you're feeling stable.
Personally, I drink a glass of wine or other drink almost every time we go out to eat (about 2-3 times a month or so), and I have no problems with it. And, since I hardly ever drink anymore, I've turned into a cheap date! LOL

Hi,
Well I have mixed reviews on this from my personal experience. I do agree with Mags, however, and that is best to try it after a safe meal, and as a added protection, experiment at home first before you possibly ruin a nice party experience. There have been more times that I end up sick after only a 1/2 glass of wine, then successful attempts. I hope the wine works for you though, because it's so nice to have a little something decadent like a nice glass of merlot!
