Magnesium has also really helped me with constipation. I take 500 mg before breakfast and 500 before dinner. And I eat 4 small meals a day. Ideally it would be 5, i'm just having trouble fitting them all in!
I used to absolutely rely on suppositories - used them daily, which is no good in the long run and would now automatically throw my bowel into a spasm. But if you are really stuck (pardon the pun), they work like a charm.

natural calm is magnesium and it usually takes 2 days for it to work.

I LOVE this stuff. It has been a miracle "cure" for my C. I currently take 3 teaspoons every night.

All I can say is, I know how ya feel. You're not alone, even though it seems like everyone else in the universe is pooping.

Have you tried stopping all Fiber supplements? For some, they just constipate you more. You may have slow emptying or a long colon, or a curled up colon.

Maybe experiment by removing the benefiber for a while. Try flax meal or something.

How about trying Miralax? Right now, it's my saving grace, along with Natural Calm.

Let us know if you find something that helps.

I'm sorry, Jordy, but that just cracked me up!!

Are things going any better for you? Did you ever try a suppository or enema?

But doesn't it feel like that?

I called the pharmacist and she told me that an enema or a suppository could make things worse, depending on what was going on. She said to call my doc. He suggested I take phospho-soda....that stuff you take before a colonoscopy.

Well, that stuff makes me sick, so I doubled up my Miralax, and Natural Calm, removed 1/2 my dose of cal/mag and slowly the stools is coming out. Very hard and painfully though. But it is some relief, thank the Lord!

Oh, doc also said to take something with senna (like sennokot) to clean me out and give me a clean start.

Thanks for asking! I am so less crabby if I can just poop a little to relieve the pressure!

Yes, sometimes it does feel that way. It's so frustrating that the average person doesn't think twice about what they eat and how it will affect whether or not they'll be able to poop tomorrow!

Try doing a search on this board regarding Senna/Sennokot. I remember people mentioning it's a big no-no. I remember trying Sennokot once (at the advice of a doctor), and I don't have anything good to say about it! I think it just made me gassy and crampy. If you're uncomfortable with a suppository or enema, then I guess my advice would be to double up on MoM and NC and see what happens; I HAVE done that before with good results!
