Hey,
I had a question. I spoke with my GI doctor and told him about my bloating caused by trapped gas and c, if you saw any of my posts you know I've been on a dry spell of late and have tried numerous other drugs.
He recommended I try Amitza.
I got it today but wanted to know
1) Have any of you heard of it, tried it?
2) What's your impression, recommendation?
3) Could this backfire and make me worse as Zelnorm did or is less counterproductive potentially?
Thanks.

hi i take amitiza, i noticed it made me go to the bathroom more, i felt nauseated a few times, but it went away quickly. I also took miralax with it. I've been folowing heathers diet strickly and take miralax a lot less than i used to. lately i haven't been taking the amitiza, only once in a while,my stools have been softer, sometimes it seems stools can get watery with the amitiza if stools are too soft(to where it won't move out), and once in a while everything goes hard all of a sudden for no reason(nothing to do with the amitiza), i take benefiber, drink only water and rice milk. I'm not sure if i'm supposed to never take it then once in a while take it, but it works for me.

I tried it last month for 7 days. I was nauseous about one hour after each of the two doses per day. Also, I went from having initial difficulty with BM each day to not going at all. My doc advised that if it didn't help right away, to stop it. So, I followed her sage advice! Good luck to you.

Thanks guys for your responses. I find myself at a crossroads. I've taken it for over a week, until today when I stopped.
This is the first medication that I feel has signifcantly helped my C, others have made it worse or helped mildy. I feel an impact.
However, I also feel nasuae, shortness of breathe, and a headache after taking it, the nasua is more in the morning.
I have been taking this right after breakfast, and right before bed.
I called the doctor and am waiting for a response. Are these side effects, nasua, shortness of breathe, headache, likely to go away, or are they enduring with the pill?
I really hope there is something I can do, I would hate to stop taking this as it helps with the C but the side effects are quite unpleasant.

I just tried Amitiza the other day for the first time. As Zelnorm has been taken off the market, I was desperate to try something new. The Amitiza immediately made me very sick, almost like having a stomach virus with explosive diahrrea and intense nausea. I would never ever take that medication again. Zelnorm was the only thing that has ever given me relief. Hope they put it back out on the market again soon.
