I am going to terminate my pregnancy, my doctor has advised me to because I am in a high risk group. I've started menopause and have had several miscarriages and other factors.
What impact would this have on my IBS-C?

I'm so sorry to hear that. That's terrible, how far along are you? I'm sorry i can't be much help in terms of how it will affect your IBS, but I know that women without health concerns are affected greatly mentally and physically, and many end up needing councelling. Please be sure this is what you want to do, even if you are considered a high risk patient. More often than not, women who are high risk are able to deliver healthy babies. I'll pray for you and your baby.

I'm sorry I can't help you. But my guess is the stress of it all will probably have some kind of effect. I'm so very sorry you had to make a tough choice like that.

Oh, I am so sorry...
I don't know about the IBS-C, but pregnancy is known to increase C, so maybe it will have a positive effect (terminating it, i mean).
Otherwise, if your life is at stake, it is better to terminate it... I am so very sorry you had/have/ to take such a difficult choice... I will still pray that both of you are OK and make it through the pregnancy fine...

I'm thinking the stress may be one of the biggest effects. High stress levels for me ramp up the C until it "breaks" and I swing to D. Maybe having finally made the decision, your body will be able to relax, which should help your C.
Also, once the hormones calm down, that should help your IBS.
Take care of yourself.

I send a prayer to you and your baby - my girlfriend was in menopause and became pregnant - the Dr. also asked if she wanted to terminate and she carried on with her pregancy. She has a very healthy 5 year old daughter as of today. I realize that her physical health may be different than yours and I do not know what risk category you are in - felt it worth sharing a story - again I send a prayer to you and your baby at this time. I also agree with"oldest of six kids" - many women need emotional counselling after such a decision - this is not an easy time - God Bless, Debbie IBS-C

None of these statistics have anything to do with IBS.
Please keep your anti-abortion propaganda off the boards. Thank you.
