I love the Acacia fiber, it is helping a ton, but I am noticing that it makes my herpes virus flair up. Usually this happens with too much chocolate or nuts, is Acacia loaded with arginine? I don't do well with other fibers in general so I hope that this is not the case. Anyone know?
Thanks! ak

If I understand the research generally speaking it is the ratio of l-lysine to l-arginine that might play a role in the growth of the herpes virus and other viruses too. However, the evidence to support this idea is scant and unreliable.
There is a food table at this web site that ranks common foods in descending order by their lysine/arginine ratios. I don't know how reliable this information is.
The only reliable reference I could find for acacia ( Acacia farnesiana ) gives information for which I calculated the l-lysine to l-arginine ratio to be about 0.50. I am sure this ratio will change considerably depending on the variety and the portions of the plant used. This variety of acacia ranks somewhere along with chestnuts, puffed rice and yams.
Perhaps Heather has more accurate information for the acacia she uses in her products.

Geez, I haven't ever heard of anything like this - I'm so sorry. I don't have any info on the arginine content in acacia at all.
Best, Heather
