Today my stomach was hurting so I decided to take a peppermint cap to see if it would help with the pain. 20 Minutes after taking the Peppermint cap (it is the one sold here) I got very nauseous and lightheaded. I have some reflux but it is usually not that severe. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

No. Try again because your stomach probably did that on its own. Try peppermint as a prevention with meals.

Thank you for the reply. I took the peppermint caps after I had eaten (about 30min). When I read the bottle it stated to take them on an empty stomach. Should they be actually take prior to a meal?

Yes, try taking them prior to a meal, and only with enough liquid to swallow it. The more liquid you drink with it the more chance of getting reflux.

It says to take it about an hour before meals but some people here take it 15-30 minutes prior to eating.

Thank you for the info. Perhaps I simply didn't take it right. I appreciate the response.

Is it common for your mouth to taste as if you just chewed a stick of peppermint gum? I only ask as I am concerned that my reflux is too severe to tolerate the pills.
Thank you very much for the feedback.

Peppermint caps make me feel really weird too... I don't think they are for everyone, personally... maybe I was taking them wrong, who knows... but i feel them coming out the other end too, very strange

Yes, I get this almost every time I take the peppermint capsules, and I've never had acid reflux problems (with the capsule or in general).

I take my caps before a bad meal -like going out to eat- or anytime I feel crampy and spasmy. They have actually halted D attacks right before they break out. I don't have acid reflux and don't burp peppermint, but I do get cool peppermint gas if I have gas.

Mine works best when I take it at least 45 minutes before eating. I have acid reflux and when I follow the directions on the bottle, i have little trouble and it does help with the pain.

Krasj: I had the same problem last night. I took the peppermint caps about an hour after a meal because I was getting crampy. I took it with very little water (just enough to swallow). I was driving home from visiting family and I started to get a headache, and get lightheaded. I pulled over and let my husband continue driving. I also had reflux from the peppermint caps but the peppermint burps were not so bad I know that it says to take on an empty stomach, so I'm going to try this next time. But, I thought it was real strange that it happened so sudden after taking the caps.
