Well, I still think there's plenty to see in NYC... Even if it's totally hot and humid and nasty, you can just stick to the Metropolitan Museum (it would take you a whole day if you wanted to see the whole of it), and the other museums (don't know what your interests are), such as the museum of Natural History. There's not just evolutionist stuff in there, btw, there's a cool planetarium Big bang stuff is there, but there's also cool data about rocks, distances of things and so on.
All indoor places are generally very cold (so you can get a cold from the temperature shock), but if you try staying indoors, it would be fine. And there is really so much to see indoors in NYC.
If you are an outdoorsy person (like me, LOL)... well watch out for the weather what it will be and if it is as nasty as above body temperature, consider passing on that. There are outdoors places to see too (well, I suppose not as scenic as Virginia )
Yeah, oatmeal is really good for you. And you don't have to eat it plain (i wouldn't do that), you can put cocoa and marshmallows in it, or jam, or brown sugar + cinnamon ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
For the road, yeah, pretsels, crackers or bananas... Bagels... well, I have yet to find a place where they sell good bagels. I moved from Boston half a year ago and still can't find a good sub for Finagle a Bagel's bagels...
Bottom line: unless you want to stay outdoors, and temperatures are above body temperature, I think coming to NYC would still be a nice experience. If you haven't been here, it will probably be very interesting too ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Are you unstable now? Maybe if you stabilize by the summer, things will look different?

Thank you so much for all of your help and advice. My mom said today that she plans on going in May, so the weather should be,,, ok, I guess?
I am an outdoorsy person, but my family loves museums, so I know we'll be going to a lot of them lol. haha and I have found that museums can be cold, so no matter what the weather I always bring a light sweater or something in my backpack so I won't freeze lol (I get cold VERY easily, my hands are always freezing lol).
I am somewhat stable now, my family is battling a stomach bug though, so that kinda messed me up a bit, I've been sick the past two days, but today I'm getting better, and by next week I should be stable again. I was stable for almost a month, until this past Monday. So by summer, unless I get a stomach bug ( I tend to get them alot lol) I should be fine.
Thanks again for all of your help, haha and for putting up with me and my worrying

No worries! ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
I guess May won't be all that bad. (Never been here in may, my husband and I moved in June... from Boston, where we're supposed to get the same hot summer, but colder winters, LOL).
I hope the stomach bug gets cleared, I know how hard it is in a large family, where one person gets it from another and so forth - one might even get it multiple times.
Otherwise, I think it would be super easy for you in any restaurant (but an italian, LOL, or a McDonalds...). New Yorkers are generally very health conscious so restaurants are used to requests that things be low fat and stuff.
I hope you like NYC (but be prepared... it's not an outdoorsy kind of place). If you want to meet around that time, post on the board and if I'm free, we can arrange something ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Good luck --J

What area in the city are you visiting? Manhattan? If you eat out, vegetarian restaurants are always safe for me.
