I have never been told by the doctor that I have IBS, but I have an appointment this month to see a specialist. My grandmother had Crohns, but I think if that is what I had I would have had signs long ago. I have found the only things that really don't upset my stomach are Turkey Sandwiches and Soups. I had Chinese food last night, and went running to the bathroom not even 5 minutes later. I thought I was going to die... I don't know were to start; how can I stop the bloating and the either running to the bathroom or not being able to go at all. I do take 2 fiber tabs at night. Any advise would be great!!

Hi and welcome!
I would start out with Breaking the Cycle and read all through the site about the IBS Diet .
Fennel tea is great for bloating. Check in the diet section about soluble fiber supplements.
After reading through all that, let us know what you're questions are.

Thanks Mags! I have been doing my reading, and will be purchasing the book. I am finally going to go see the doctor on Friday. I have been putting this off for a long time in fear of the tests the doctor may want to do. One sad thing is that I have grown up without missing eating a salad everyday, and I may have to give that up. I sure am glad I am not alone with this. My husband can't figure out why I won't go out to eat anymore. I have tried to explain that I am worried about having an attack on the way home. Hopefully things will get better soon.

I'm sure they will get better for you! It took me forever to finally go to the doctor also. About 3 years or so! Now that I look back though, I just should have gone and gotten it over with a long time ago.
I also used to be terrified to leave to go anywhere - especially to eat out! I'm doing SO MUCH better now, so I have faith that you will be able to do the same!
You may still be able to eat salad. Just get yourself stable, then try eating a small salad at the end of a meal.
Be sure to let us know how your appointment goes on Friday.
