I have insomnia sometimes and I often take Klonopin for it... however, Klonopin is highly addictive and I don't want to take it anymore. I have had success with herbs in the past, but lately Valarian Root has really upset my stomach... It may be a little potent and intense. Does anyone have any herb suggestions that help with insomnia that are gentle on the tummy?

It's not an herb, but... melatonin, maybe? I've never heard of it bothering anyone's stomach, and it's still natural.

Catnip makes humans sleepy, but I don't know if it's as potent as valerian.

You can try finding one without additives. Maybe pure Valarian would be okay.

Actually, my favourite insomnia remedy is my lavender essential oil infused pillow! Maybe try an aromatic approach versus orally popping herbal remedies?

How about chamomile? It's an IBS herb and a relaxation herb?

Chamomile is a traditional sleep aid and Heather recommends it as being very good for your digestion also. You should note that chamomile is related to ragweed so if you're allergic to ragweed or other daisy-like plants you should use it cautiously.
