Allergic to Soy Protein

I have a Dr. confirmed allergy to soy protein--which basically discounts any recipes using soy or soy products! Are there any known subsitutes for the recipes that use it for consistency. Oh and I'm also lactose intolerant.

Heather, I just want to say that I never knew giving up sugarless chewing gum (and gum in general really) and soda could give me such results! And mint tea is wonderful!

I also have a wonderful Dr. who was very anxious to read your book. I also sent him the info on hypnosis. I had a colonoscopy (again) yesterday so I asked him what he thought of the hypnosis (he already told me he agrees with your book) and he said he would endorse it!

Thanks for any suggestions!

How about using rice or almond milk? You can get them at most supermarkets and health food stores.

Thanks! I am going to try them--our regular grocery stores do not carry them, but I did hear of a huge health store that does! But, in a recipe that uses tofu--what could I substitute that has the same consistency? Any ideas?

I'm drawing a blank on what you could use in things like tofu cheesecake. For main dishes with tofu as the centerpiece, you could just use white fish or chicken breasts. But for blending up tofu to make a creamy base...hmmm...maybe one of the rice cream cheese or sour cream products?

Ack, I know there are good ideas here, I just can't think of any!

Heather,
What about using the soy yogurt that you drain and turn into a type of cream cheese?

What were the symptoms that made you decide to get tested?
There have to be some alternatives out there.

Oh, this would be such a good idea except that it's still soy... new
