I have had great success in using the acacia from Heather's tummy care. I use two teaspoons a day. This makes me completely regular with no constipation or diarehea. PROBLEM - I am now on pain meds which are causing me constipation (very painful). Do I continue with the acacia? Take more or less? I need some help!

I recently took pain meds and was pretty constipated, but I don't take a SFS because I can't tolerate them. For a short-term situation like that I'm not sure if upping the Acacia is a good idea -- I think you'd need a lot more in your system to help and you might end up feeling worse from going up too quickly. I'd definitely not stop taking it, though. What I did was take Colace (stool softener) once I became uncomfortable, and it really helped. I think short-term it's okay to take. I normally have problems with D so I was really reluctant to try it, but it worked out okay. The day before I stopped the pain meds I stopped the Colace. My stomach was a little upset once I stopped the pain meds but nothing too bad. And, of course, be sure you're drinking LOTS of fluids.
I hope you feel better soon.
