This is my number source of agony and it never ends. I have been trying to follow the diet as strictly as I can. Meds and Gas-X don't seem to work. Will Beano help? How do I break this thing?

Have you tried fennel tea? Some of the people on the Board swear by it. You can buy fennel seed from Heather (web page). You can also buy it in the spice aisle at the grocery store - that might be a good place if you want to try a little bit but it's awfully expensive to buy it there if you decide to use it as frequently as Heather recommends. I've also heard that you can buy it in bulk at a reasonable price in Indian markets.
HTH.

I used to have TERRIBLE gas & bloating. Other than watching my diet, the best thing I found to help it was the fennel tea. I also found fennel capsules at my local health food store. They didn't work as effectively as the tea, but they were great in a pinch.

I third the notion of fennel tea. You can mix in other herbs (peppermint or lavender, say) if you dislike the taste.
Have you tried using a heating pad when you're bloated? It works wonders for me - I lose the bloat within a half hour or so.
Longer term, I've found the best relief by drinking all day long (IBS-safe stuff, not booze ), getting IF with every meal, and exercise. The more I keep things moving, the less gassy and bloated I feel.

I have terrible painful bloating and know that it's mainly caused when I get backed up, which is usually every day.
I'm taking Natural Calm to get things moving (it's a magnesium citrate power drink mix) and that gets things moving and the gas out.

Do you use a SFS? I'm finding that as I gradually increase my dosage of it, my gas situation is improving.

Soluble fiber supplement. Heather talks a lot about them in her books and on this site.

Do you take Acacia? Isn't it prebiotic, meaning it actually increases gas? And it's the recommended SFS
