Yes, some people on this board have trouble with Fructose in general and specifically with High Fructose Corn Syrup (contained in soda pop, and non-carbonated soda, a whole lot of sereals, most ketchup, and all sorts of other unusual places), and most of us have trouble with all fruit juices.

Btw, why are you eating oat bran for breakfast? Isn't it mostly IF? Most people can't tolerate much IF for breakfast... bran is just hard on our tummies. Try eating oatmeal instead (it's SF and IF, but the SF soothes although some people have trouble with that too ) or some other cereal that does not have bran of any kind. Personally, I wouldn't even try eating bran, any time of the day, let alone breakfast...

Lumiere is right with the note about soy -- soy is a bean and hard to digest. Do you also get gas?

Another thing: what is low fat corn chips? Are they baked? If they are still fried, they are not low fat enough.

About the wheat, get tested for celiac disease (ask your doctor to test you) and you will know for sure. Most people don't have a problem with wheat. I eat white (italian) bread all the time, however, most people have a lot of problems with wheat bran (contained in whole wheat bread and whole wheat anything). Thus if you stay away from the whole wheat products, you should be OK on wheat. Don't remove something that could be providing important nutrients without knowing what to substitute it with.

When you say cooked veggies, what kinds of them are you using?

Oh, yes, forgot to say, do you eat normal-sized meals, or small sized? Reducing the meal sizes and increasing the frequency of eating works wonders for IBS (it did for me)!

Thanks everyone for your help.I will cut down on the soy, elminate the oat bran, and watch for fructose. Yes the chips are baked not fried.

I have been tested for celiac, test was negative, but I thought I felt better after eliminating wheat. Perhaps it was just a high-soy and oat bran day and not the wheat after all. The pain I have is not gas pain, it's a deeper pain. Like menstrual cramps, in the middle. (Sorry gentlemen, that's the only way I know to describe it.) I have already had a hysterectomy - needlessly, it turns out, since my pain was due to IBS all along - so we've ruled out female issues as the problem.

Thanks again everyone. I'll start keeping a food diary and let you know how it goes. Maybe someday soon I'll be off the Vicodin (in addition to everything else I don't eat....)
