I just bought Natural Gum at the Whole food store, cinnamon flavor. Ingridients:Cane sugar, glucose, gum base(contains natural chicle), rice syrup, cinnamon flavor, red beet color, resinous glaze, beeswax and carnauba wax.
Is this gum safe for IBS-C? I love chewing gum. Which gum safe?
Blessings, Abi

Looks safe to me. I don't chew gum because I swallow air and when I do and it adds to my gas pains and bloating. I prefer to suck on hard candies when my mouth is dry.

it sounds ok, but chewing gum naturally puts more air in your digestive tract = gas

Like the others said ... the ingredients sound safe, but Heather recommends against chewing gum because it can cause gas from swallowing air. However, when I'm C I've found that chewing gum can actually help me go. I'm not sure why exactly. There's a study somewhere in the IBS research library about chewing gum helping bowel motility after colon surgery, but I don't know if a reason was given why it helped.
