I spoke to my pschiatrist this morning about the possibility of prescribing this drug for me as I was encouraged by things I read on this site. He isn't thrilled about the idea (knows of my G.I. problems) and feel it will constipate me (I am now ibsA, but am usually more on the constipated side, even though I have a bm every day -- but have cramping ect. the hypnotherapy tapes are working for me (only half way through), even though it's been "back and forth" -- I now know this is to be expected. In the meantime, I was just wondering if the people who have had success with effexore, where only ibs-D, also, if anyone was IBS - C, did it help you or did it make you more constipated? He also said it's for depression and may not be good for me because anxiety is more my issue. thanks so much in advance

I just posted a similar response to this. I've been on effexor for almost 4 weeks, and it has definitely made my C worse. My doctor wants me to give it the full 4-6 week trial period before I give up on it, though. I've started taking Natural Calm every night, which helps with the C.
