First I thought my IBS was just worse, then I thought I had the flu, but finally I went to the doctor and found I have gallstones, and need to have my gall bladder removed. Meanwhile, I need to eat something, and think that the IBS diet should be safe. But it's pretty touch and go here, so where is that post?

Thanks, Ulrika. I have found some users with gall bladder advice, too! What a great resource we have here!

There are 2 cereals that may no longer be "what to eat" new

Some cereals were reformulated a year or so ago. I'm pretty sure Rice Krispies now has HFCS, so you might want to avoid that one. Honeycomb now contains whole grain corn and oats. It's possible they're so processed they're not a problem, but I'd avoid that one, too, until you're feeling better. I always did very well with Rice Chex and Corn Pops.

I know you already found the link & other people to help, but thought I'd throw in my two cents in case it can help. Applesauce - sugar-free kind. Fat-free chicken broth (you can add herbs & stuff to this & it's almost like a soup). French bread (if you can handle it).

My mom had horrible gallstones a few years back, and she's IBS-A. I helped take care of her & fix her meals, and those were the three things she could handle. Bananas seemed to make it much worse, and she couldn't handle jell-o.

I'm IBS-D and got checked for gallstones or gallbladder cancer when I was getting tested for everyone on the planet. That was also my diet for 3 weeks because I wasn't allowed to each much at all, and it helped a lot.

Good luck with the gallstones! That is not very fun at all! =)

I don't know what HFCS means.

I went and got my Kellogg's Rices Krispies from the cupboard and mine contains (not sure about the translation, but ):

Rice (98%)
Sugar
Salt
Glucose syrup
Malt extract (barley)

hfcs = high fructose corn syrup = glucose syrup

It's a trigger for some people.

Many of the abbreviations commonly used on these Boards are contained in one of the sticky posts (the ones with little push-pin icons) at the top of the Diet Board. Here's the one on abbreviations.

I talked about what's in Rice Krispies in another post.
