Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Acid Reflux (Kree??), Prilosec, and Peppermint Caps...

I've been taking Heather's peppermint caps about twice a day for about a month (before lunch and dinner). Before I started the fennel tea a few weeks before that, I consistently drank 2-4 cups of peppermint tea each day. I've also been taking Prozac for about 6-7 weeks. Last week, I started getting this feeling in my throat, like something was stuck there. I had a really stressful week, so I assumed it was the same thyroid problem I've had since high school; nothing serious, just a chronic thing triggered by illness or stress. But all my thyroid tests came back normal. So yesterday I went to the doctor and she thinks it might be acid reflux, for which she prescribed Prilosec. I remember reading a post from Kree (not sure how long ago) where she mentioned that she had a hard time taking Prozac because it worsened her acid reflux. I remember a week or two ago having a really nasty acid taste in my mouth after burping - I had just taken my Prozac a few minutes before that. Could the Prozac have "caused" the acid reflux problem? It couldn't be the peppermint caps, could it, since I've never had a problem with peppermint before? Anyone else have a similar situation? For now the doctor wants me to slowly wean off the Prozac in case it IS the cause... And can anyone tell me their thoughts on Prilosec, and whether or not it helped them with their IBS?
