I was diagnosed at twenty but it got *much* worse about a year and a half ago and that's when I really started to change my diet.

My symptoms started 8 years ago. They have gradually gotten worse since then. I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago.

3 years, had been leaning towards the IBS diet previously (started cutting out cheese, milk) but really started in earnest 8 months ago. Have had a much better time since and if I don't I know exactly why. I've come a long way but there's still a lot further to go. (Getting more insoluble fiber in the diet as an example.)

Over 15 years was definitely a winner. It shows what a resource we have here of so many seasoned veterans able to give advice and assistance. 2-5 years was next and then 5-10 years.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
