Hello hohoyumyum,

I went to google and been reading on it and I found this www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/nmdrugprofiles/nutsupdrugs/glu_0124.shtml
They talk about ADVERSE REACTIONS to glutamine and this what they say: "There are rare reports of constipation and bloating with high dose glutamine peptides in TPN".

I don't know if I should keep taking it or not. I really want to keep taking it(today is my second day) b/c I also read great things about it. In this article they talk about a high dose. I'm taking 500mg a day, but I don't know if that's a high or low dose...What do you think?

Thank you for taking the time to help me, I really appreciate it.

Blessings,
Abi

500 mg is the lowest does I've ever found available.

If the only possible side effects are C and bloating, and they are rare, I'd give it a try. That's only my opinion, though. If you feel like you are becoming bloated or perhaps it feels like C is going to be a prob just quit using it. I saw this on website you posted the link for:

Quote:

Those who use oral glutamine peptide supplements for fitness or sports purposes use 1.5 to 4.5 grams (as L-glutamine) daily.

500 mg is only half a gram (1000mg to 1g). Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think I am. Since they're recommending 1.5 to 4.5 grams, I'd definately call 500mg (.5 g) a low dose.

How are you feeling so far?

I just bought the 500mg capsules, but the bottle says to take it w/food. You said you take it on an empty stomach. Will it work better that way? Or is it an individual thing, I just have to try it & see?

For myself, there is no longer any pain during BMs if I take glutamine regularly.

I was wondering about your pain & how the glutamine helps. I am primarily D--do you mean that you still can have D but you don't have cramps during BM? Lately I have had bouts of cramps and waves of pain during the D. I am on medication but have never heard of the glutamine. I am willing to try anything so I would like to hear about how it helps you!

Thanks for any info!

I hardly ever have bouts of D anymore. Thanks to Heather, I've been stable for about a year. But I did still have a lot of cramping and pain before and during BMs for several months after the D finally started to go away. That is the cramping and pain that is gone now.

What kind of meds are you taking?

Earth Fare is the only healthfood store near me. They had a couple other brands, but they were WAY too expensive, one was $19! Anyway, I've been taking it every morning w/breakfast, but it's too soon for any noticeable effects I guess. Sorry I didn't respond sooner--they've had us working mandatory overtime at work & I'm exhausted! By the time I get home, make dinner, do the dishes & clean up I pretty much collapse into bed! No time for the internet. But thanks for the advice. I can't wait to start seeing results!

I get mine through vitaminshoppe.com. If you sign up for e-mail notices they'll send you coupons regularly. 100 capsules costs $11.80.
