How many fennel seeds should I take everyday? I know it depends on the person, but just as a start I have no idea how much to have. I've just been chewing them instead of doing tea (I can't stand the taste so chewing I get it over with quicker). So far I've just chewed 5 seeds at a time, to help with bloating and gas. Is this too little to make a difference?
This gas stuff is new to me! I started taking a probiotic 30 days ago, and now I seem to take less Imodium (less D) and have more gas. Still pretty stable, haven't had any major attacks even with eating cheese.
Any help with the fennel? Thanks, Kat

do you swallow the seeds, or just chew them?

Both. I chew them until I can't stand the taste anymore and then gulp them down.

I found a website with some good info about how much fennel to chew. They recommend 2-3 grams of seeds (1/2 tsp) at a time, with about 7 grams total for the day (1 1/2 tsp). http://www.healthandyoga.com/html/product/fennel.html Kat

Another site I had found suggested chewing the seeds, or making tea and eating the soaked seeds at the end (I guess just gulp them down). They suggested straining the tea to get rid of the seeds and giving it to infants with colic as a milder version, so I guess for adults with IBS the best thing would be to eat the seeds.
