Hi you beano experts out there! I recently started taking beano with my meals to stop my afternoon and evening bloating, gas, burping, etc. I do have some questions about beano though.
Is Beano safe to take daily, long-term? How much beano should I take? Does it depend on my body weight or by the amount of food I eat? I am 5'3'' and weigh 105 pounds.
thanks!

I'm no Beano expert but I do use it frequently. I take 1 pill before my first bite of some veggies like cabbage or beans. I'm 5'0 but a whole lot more weight than you ...I use it maybe 2-3 times a week.

I only use it with foods that I know will make me gassy. I take two right before I eat or with my first bite. I've been taking it for a couple years and so far I haven't noticed any problems. If you're unsure, you should talk to your doc about regular use.

thank you very much! I've been taking 3 before meals before I get REALLY gassy. And I've noticed a difference already! Maybe I can just take 2 then.

I have not heard anything about Beano being unsafe to use. I use it daily. Adjust the quantity of tabs. according to the amount of potentially gassy food being consumed. I generally take at least 6/meal. I have taken more, however.

2 should do it. Gas was always one of my worst symptoms. I don't know how the human body can produce so much of it. Besides the BeanO, hypno has been by far the most effective method of controlling gas for me.

Just thought I'd let you know since you follow a GF diet. I just called the company. They don't add it the product, but grow it in a medium that contains wheat.
Not sure if I should be taking this now.

I'm not worried. The Beano website anwers "facts" re: the possibility of gluten in Beano. See: www.beanogas.com/faqs.asp#18
Note: I do not have celiac disease and follow a gluten-free diet for other reasons.

I find Beano effective in avoiding gas, however, I also strongly recommend following Heather's tips re: IBS-safe ways to include veggies in your diet. I do! It makes an enormous difference in avoiding/minimizing/eliminating gas related "attacks." Make use of a food processor, if possible. Chop well, chew effectively, and make sure that the fiber is as easy to assimilate/digest as possible.

The people at Beano told me the website was wrong. but if you're not worried about it, then that's good. I just thought I'd warn you because I thought you were gluten intolerant.
