My cousin said that because he is taking peppermint oil pills he can get away with having soda, coffee and fried foods and oh yes popcorn! Is this true? Will these pills take care of the symptoms caused by these foods? Can anyone please tell me how long it takes to see improvements after starting these pills? thanks! Torre

No, the peppermint oil is not a license to eat with wild abandon. Everyone is different so there is not a time period in which to tell if you are improving or not with the caps....it would depend on how you feel.

I was drinking peppermint tea after every meal that had even the slightest trigger in it and for a few months I was totally fine, pizza, chocolate, you name it, I could handle it. Now however, it would seem that not only can i not eat triggers, but plain toast (white bread) and even the peppermint tea seems to be making me sick... (perhaps there is a stomach flu going around.. who knows...)

Peppermint is just another dietary aid to be used in conjunction with a safe, soluble-fiber-rich diet, avoiding trigger foods, and using a soluble fiber supplement. Your cousin is in denial.
