How do I get my nine year old excited about soy milk? He likes the smoothies and the chocolate milk, but hates the vanilla flavor. He eats cereal in the mornings and won't eat it with the vanilla soy. Any suggestions?

Hi - try a different brand, and try plain instead of vanilla. The brands all taste so different that the odds are good he'll like at least one of them.

Or maybe even try rice milk - maybe he'll like that one better.

Thanks for the replies. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) I'll try another brand and he doesn't like rice milk. He loves soy yogrut, so I'll try to get some of his calcium in that way.

Hi, maybe your son might like almond milk. It has a light sort of cherry flavor. Gail

How about cereal with chocolate milk? Rice Krispies with this would be like having Coco pops! Not the healthiest idea admitedly, but one I think a kid might go for.

I also do not like the taste of vanilla soy milk but I tried the plain West Soy milk and like that a lot in my cereal. Might be worth a try. Good luck!

Or adding on to Linz's idea - if you don't want that much chocolate in his breakfest, maybe the regular milk with cocoa pebbles? That way you only have the chocolate from the cereal and it will mix with the soy milk to hopefully disguise some of the taste.

Try plain Silk. Personally I'm not a fan of vanilla flavor, but the plain flavored Silk is good I've also heard many people say that Silk is a good replacement for milk, since it doesn't taste so "soy-milk"-ish.
