A friend of mine is doing his residency at Cornell and I asked him to recommend one for me a while back. I have not followed up, but here is the list he gave me:
Brian Landzberg. I think he is briliant. He was a resident at Cornell, Chief Resident and GI fellow. Christine Frissora Mark Pochapin Charles Maltz Ellen Scherl
Those were the names he gave me. Based on my own experience, I have to warn you to STAY AWAY from Dr. Marcel Laufer, if you come across him. I have a thousand bad things to say about him.
Hope that helps.

They are the names of the NY people on the boards, I put their names in the heading to get their attention for your post.

Wow what a coincidence (an unfortunate one!). He had me do the prep for a sigmoidoscopy -- really awful and painful for me, 2 enemas which purposely gave me D after I had finally begun to stabilize ... anyway I got to his office and he said I'm so sorry, we're updating our equipment and I thought we'd be done by now but we're not, so we can't do the procedure. Can you believe that crap????? Yep, that was the last I saw of him. Also on my first visit to him I brought a log of everything I'd eaten in the last 2 weeks along with how my stomach felt that day, and I also typed up a history of when my symptoms began, how they had changed, etc. He took a casual glance at it, smirked, and said yeah, it's probably IBS -- it does tend to target people who are, shall we say, a little obsessive-compulsive. Ummmmm, 'scuse me? I know I'm definitely a litte type-A but I thought I was being a responsible patient! Who the heck is he to diagnose me with OCD (which, by the way, I do not have, thank God.). What a terd. Sorry you had to see him too! Let me know if you see any of the docs on the list I gave you, and what you think.

Charles maltz is wholly impatient, unempathetic and well...if you're not dying, he doesn't really care. I've had fantastic results with Dr.Paul Basuk on the upper east side of Manhattan....he is my gastroenterologist and hawkeyes (referred from me) and we are both very satisfied with him. he totally supports me looking for treatment alternatively e.g. chiropractic etc and doesn't force his opinion and above all...he LISTENS. Good luck.
