I've been buying Shady Farms organic ground turkey for the last two weeks and making chili with it. Last night I made turkey burgers with it and confirmed what I felt when I made the chili... it seems to have pieces of "hard" stuff in it, like bone or grizzle or something. Has anyone else noticed this? And is there a brand that doesn't have any surprises??

It sounds like that could be some fat. Are you buying ground turkey BREAST? I usually buy the Perdue (I think) ground turkey breast...

Yup I noticed that too. I checked the label and it was pretty high in fat, so I checked the ingredients -> Turkey thigh meat. Those hard bits are what you find sometimes in sausages and non-lean ground beef, so I assume it's pieces of fat.
I found some ground turkey breast, but I haven't been able to find it since and can't remember the brand name. Ground chicken breast may be easier to find, as well as soy alternatives.

Try Jennie-O or the Turkey Store. I've never found the crunchy bits in those brands.

Thank you so much! I thought maybe I was going a bit crazy or something! That stuff was truly disgusting. I'll try the Jennie-O brand next.
