Has anyone in the UK seen this program? The whole series ran on UKtv Style over the past couple of months, and is now being repeated on the same channel. It's basically about a group of Brits who go out to a star in Spain, which specialises in holistic treatment programs, to try to fix the problems which they haven't been able to fix any other way. As well as a really sweet girl called Amie who had IBS, there were people with extreme sweating, eczema, psoriasis, infertility, obesity, etc.
While they were they they had to detox, including a 7 day fast on nothing but broth and fruit drinks, do a self enema kit with a special coffee mix every morning and do various 'complementary therapies', such as reflexology, acupuncture, yoga, neti, etc.
Of course I watched the IBS girl fascinated! She really struck a chord with me as she was a similar age (I'm 23), and outwardly everything was going great in her life, few worries, til IBS hit (in her case after a traumatic relationship break-up). She had tried everything, but nothing helped. From what she said she was IBS-A. I nearly cried with happiness when I heard something other than me say "I can't remember the last time I had a 'normal poo'!"!!
Anyway, the gist of this post... Has anyone tried a home enema kit? They had some awesome results (the IBS girl got as close to 'cured' as I guess any of us will ever be, by going thru the whole program), but the results of these enemas were SO dramatic - after a couple of days they started producing a rubbery, brown/white substance which is apparently 'colon plaque', which can coat your colon (and therefore affect its performance) for your whole life. One previous guest had passed a coin wedged into some colon placque that he had swallowed 40 years ago!!
So I'm considering if, whilst I don't think I could do the full detox, it might be worth trying home enema kits? I'm now kind of fascinated if I have some of this colon placque, like everyone on the show did!
Any advice or thoughts really appreciated...

Hey there,
I have never personally tried it, but have been told to pretty much stay away from anything like an enema that can be traumatic to your bowels. Do a board search for "enema" as it has been discussed A LOT in the past and see what others have had to say about it.
Good luck! --Steph
