Which do you find more tolerable...the grape juice or the wine? Or do you skip this part? Or is it too minimal an amount to worry about it?

Thanks!

Beth,
My church only does wine. It is definitely way too small an amount to worry about. Communion should give you peace of mind -- probably the best thing for IBS! PLEASE don't stress / worry about this!

Hi Beth, Are you a Roman Catholic? Usually in RC masses they
just give out the host(bread wafer). For special occasions,
they'll sometimes serve the wine, like at Christmas and Easter
, but that's usually it,and it is always wine, not grape juice
. At least I've never heard of grape juice being served before

I wouldn't worry about it. The amount is so small and it's for such a good cause. - has so much purpose you know what I mean?

I'm Lutheran. And we have communion at almost every service. We are offered either wine or grape juice. The juice is for underaged teenagers and I guess, also for recovered alcoholics?

So it doesn't matter which one I choose? You guys think I would be okay with either? Which would you guys go with? I don't mean to obsess...but when you are as unstable and symptomatic as I, you worry about everything.

Hi Beth - I don't know much about the Lutheran religion, but - could you just skip the wine/juice part if it is making you so nervous? I was raised Roman Catholic and I used to just take the host and skip the wine. This was completely acceptable in my church....

Hi Bob -

I was raised Roman Catholic - I do not practice now, but my parents are very religious. They serve wine at their church at every mass along with the host.

Oh, I never knew Lutherans had communion, I thought it was
just RC's and Episcopalians. Is where you work(Trinity U) a
Lutheran school? -Bob

Next Sunday, I'll finally be in line to participate in the sacrement of taking in the body and blood of Christ!!! I'm so happy!!!!

My pastor even ordered gluten free wafers just for me...from when I was a strict GF eater!

My church only serves grape juice & pita bread. If I were you I would stick with the grape juice since you are unstable. Just ask Jesus to bless it to your body before you take it. He knows your condition!

I have communion and I have had it at all the churches I have attended (we were hunting for the right fit) we attended Nazarene, Wesleyan & landed at North American Baptist.

They all served juice though -- not wine -- and I have always been fine with that small amount.

I would have to vote for "too minimal an amount to worry about it."

On the very few occassions that my church offers wine when taking communion, you don't even get a teaspoon full of wine (it's actually wine mixed with water). It's more like a couple of drops.
