I am at a loss, I just had a lot of tests done, blood work, stool samples done, colon looked at in ways I don't want to think about.
Now I call the two Dr's and I'm told this by one.
Nothing shows up, I ask about diet, telling them everything I eat sends me to the bathroom.
I'm told, no diet, no pills will help, it's a on again and a off again thing.
I call the Colon Dr. I am told that a upper GI might help find some answers.
I have cramps in the lower part, but again am told every test came back good, nothing wrong.
I have the cook book and I've also been trying wheat free just in case as I was told you can get a good repport and still can't eat wheat.
Question
Did any of you have the test show nothing is wrong and you still have trouble with all foods?
I have been in tears all day, that is not helping but I'm afraid to eat because I know I will have to run to the bathroom.
They told me to keep taking the Benefiber.
But that's not telling me what is wrong.
I feel like I'm just putting a bandade over the problem.
I just don't know what to do anymore.

If you have IBS, none of the tests will show anything wrong. There is no way to test for IBS. An IBS diagnosis is given when all other problems are ruled out. Which tests have you had done?

Tillie, did your doctors give you an IBS diagnosis then? If so, it is really frustrating because IBS does come and go and you can have an attack for no reason. However, at least you know that you don't have a disease or any other problems AND you can manage your symptoms. It will take time to figure out what does and doesn't work for you, but following Heather's guidelines does help. It's not a cure for IBS, which is probably why the one doctor said diet doesn't matter, but what you choose to eat and how you eat can aggravate or minimize your symptoms. The IBS diet is set-up to minimize symptoms and regulate your GI tract.

Unfortunately, there's no cure for IBS, but maybe someday there will be! Right now, all we can do is try to reduce our risk for attacks and manage the pain and anxiety it causes. Yes, this just seems like a Band-Aid, but the diet and other techniques for dealing with IBS can help you regain a sense of control and improve your quality of life.

If you're IBS-D I would recommend taking Imodium as a preventive in the mornings and drinking peppermint tea before or after meals to help with cramping. If you still need help figuring out diet and eating heathily (you're also trying to get your cholesterol down, right?), you might consider posting what you're eating on the IBS Fitness Board. We might be able to point out anything that might be triggering attacks or keeping you from getting stable.

How much Benefiber are you taking? Did your doctors talk to you about medications, such as anti-spasmodics or anti-depressants?

Please know you're not alone! I've been exactly where you are - afraid to eat, hungry, in pain, and desperate - but I'm doing so much better now!

The colon Doctor did blood work first, then stool sample tests were done.
then the colon thing where they use a camera with some sort of tool that takes samples as it travels, I was out for this test.
He also tested for foods, to see if he could find some answers.
So far nothing shows up, this is good but I still have problems.
Give me a few days and I'll list my foods with you guys but.
A health diet nurse went over my foods last night, she said I was not eating near enough and not enough fats.
I'm going to sit down to night and go back over the two books I got that Heather wrote.

A scratch test, the one said nothing showed up in a blood test he did and the colon Doc. said the colon showed no signs of wheat but some people still with all the signs being good still can't eat any wheat.
This is why I'm trying to go wheat free to see if things are different.
I am having trouble with some of the meals because no store carries a lot of the things where I live.
