how the heck do you get into a mango?

hi, i bought a mango as it was on the soluble fibre list but i can't get into the thing and ended up peeling it and eating it like corn on the cob!! short of attacking it with a chain saw how else can i get in it? thx

is to peel it with a paring knife as you would an apple and then set it pointy end up on a cutting board. You will notice it is not round if you look from the top. The seed inside the mango is shaped like a sunflower seed or pumpkin seed so if you cut deep into the fatter, rounder sides you can get two large pieces (use caution it is slippery) and then pair away the rest of the flesh around the seed. With practice you will always be able to tell where the fatter sides are and how far you can cut into them before you hit the seed.

though I do it your way several of the Glider folks I know have bought mango pitters- specially shapped devices that make it much easier- I can't justify having ANOTHER tool in the kitchen, especially one that only does 1 thing!
