I am on day 3 with no carbonated beverages (and caffeine). After months of my PPI drugs not working and a fairly clean diet, I've come to realize that it's probably the carbonated beverages that have caused my problems in the acid reflux department. So, I've been drinking nothing but water and watered-down non-acidic juices for the past three days. I've also had nothing but D attacks. I had been D free for over a year since Effexor XR stopped my attacks, but I also counted heavily on the bubbles in my beverages to help. I tried taking a gas pill to pop the bubbles, but it didn't stop the D attack tonight. Anyone else get sick when they drink water without carbonation? I really have to get my inflammed esophagus healed, but D everyday is no fun either!!!

You can try Immodium for the D, and Fennel tea to help regulate intestinal spasms, and help get rid of gas.

Try some soothing herbal teas. Fennel, cammomile or ginger are a good choice.
Avoid peppermint as it can sometimes be a problem for GERD sufferers.
Also avoid artificial sweeteners as they can upset IBS-D.
Cranberry juice is usually safe or caffeine free iced teas if you are after something cool.

Have you read the diet guidelines?
Try the fruit and herbal teas. I find that even blackcurrant tea goes down pretty well with my GERDs (lots better than juice) and it's nice old too.

For some reason, carbonated beverages slow down my spasms. I usually have D only when I drink water with my food....hence it's tough to drink water with my food.
