I know taste is rather subjective - but I'm curious as to which soy/rice milk products everyone likes, for drinking? I sooo miss the taste of real milk and am trying to find a decent substitute.. has anyone found one that doesn't have a strong aftertaste?

Thanks!
Risa

I'm a big fan of VitaSoy Lite Vanilla soy milk for drinking and on cereal. I actually prefer it over regular milk, probably because I have a sweet tooth and it's nice and sweet. When I'm baking, I usually use WestSoy low fat plain soy milk, because it's cheaper, but I've tried drinking their vanilla and I didn't find it very appealing. I also enjoy Rice Dream's vanilla rice milk once in a while. It has a different taste from soy milk, which some people actually like better, but I'm so used to soy milk now that I still prefer it. As you said, it's all a matter of personal preference, but that's what I like! Good luck finding something you enjoy!

Hi Risa!

One thing that I found helpful....

I really, really loved to drink milk! I still miss it. But, I can drink rice milk (I like soy, but it makes my throat itch if I drink it cold, heated is fine - haven't figured that one out yet. ).

The thing I've found is, if you drink rice/soy milk expecting it to taste like regular milk, you'll never be happy. It's like trying to find an orange juice that tastes like apple juice.

My favorite to drink is Rice Dream, either vanilla or plain. And, I like to use 8th Continent soy milk for oatmeal, tea, baking, etc.

Hope that helps, and happy taste testing! Good luck!

I LOVE the Rice Dream reg. or vanilla myself FAR better than milk. Try their ice cream.......pretty good 2. Haven't tried the cr,cheese or mozzarella yet, but supermarkets seem to have them.
NOTE: Look by the veggies and the (should i say Unusual foods section)... Not in the dairy where I shop at least.
Want to try Mags choices for cooking. Just heard of them in her post.

Hi.

Here in the UK we have a variety of Soya Milk.
I like Long Life So Good Soya as it is only a touch off the taste of real milk.
I use it with my cereal - and cannot tell the difference between milk and soya do to the flavour the cereal leaves in the bowl.

I've heard rice milk is a very good substitute - but i cant find any to sample..

I like Silk soy milk-vanilla. plain, and they have a mocha flavor! I'm presently trying Rice Dream milk! Try different brands until you find one you like! Mary
