I did a search, but couldn't find anything telling me where to get them. All I found was what they did. Is this doctor prescribed? I would like to see if maybe a probiotic would work for me.

You can get probiotics at any health store, or even online like this site.
I have heard of a prescribed probiotic though for people with Crohn's Disease, but I think a regular probiotic will be fine for IBS.

What exactly am I looking at? Are those on that link probiotics or is that just the main page? Sorry, this is all new to me. Are there different types or kinds?

That was just the main page with different types of supplements, etc.. The probiotic is the Primal Defence in this case. If you click on the Primal Defence picture to your left, it will give you a bit more info about it and then below it will give you the option to buy. This brand has worked great for me, but others here on Heather's site use other brands too.

I found this searching around online.
Right now probiotics, like herbs, are not being regulated so we cannot be sure what we are getting when we buy these supplements. In the research of people taking probiotics were in people with highly-compromised immune systems from AIDS or cancer. So the next time you have a stomach ache there is no harm in eating some yogurt. Better yet, eat some before you start your antibiotics or when you take that trip to another country.
As for the pills and powders at the health food store, at this point you can take them or leave them -depending on how deep your pockets are.
So all I need to do is eat yogurt? I thought yogurt for sure would give me an attack.

Yogurt does not have enough probiotics in it, and yes it can cause you to have an attack. Many people who have IBS have had much success using probiotics. The research has not only been done with AIDS and Cancer patients.

It will help explain what studies have been done on probiotics for IBS specifically.

Yep, yogurt gives me HORRIBLE attacks and D like I have never imagined. Even when I take a dairy digestive supplement. If you try it, always start small. Just eat a little bit and see how it reacts in your system for 24 hours. I made the mistake of eating a whole tub in one sitting! It digested just fine....However, the next morning.....ATTACK CITY!! It was horrible. I guess I was just lucky that it didn't trigger an attack instantly.
I am also on primal defense and I seem to notice a difference in my gas and bloating. It's expensive so I only take 2 a day. I can't take more than 4, anyway, without getting D. So, it works out for my body AND my pocket book to just take 2 a day and get decent benefits from it.
Good Luck! Michelle
