I eat just about the same exact things every single day and some days it's fine and other days it's not!! I don't know but I'm glad it worked okay for you this time!!!

Jenix, Most IBS'ers have a tendency to blame all attacks they have on whatever they recently had to eat. However, the actual culprit may have just been psychological anxiety. Sometimes sudden changes in weather or travelling from one climate to another can trigger attacks. Thus you may not actually have a problem with milk, because the other attacks were due to other causes.-Bob

The above post seems to be so true and so frustrating. It is very difficult to really know what you can and can not eat. I have a relatively mild case of IBS I think and technically I could probably eat most things for a day or two but it is really hard for me to figure out truly what I can and can not eat.
At least I feel I am eating healthier and I get a feeling that my true diet will end up being more like avoid High Fats, Pop, and maybe dairy but until I figure it out I am trying to go with stable for quite a while and slowy introduce new foods.
It is a little disheartening to know that you can do everything right and still have problems if that is what I am hearing.

With an illness like IBS, you are shooting for control, not cure. It's unlikely you are going to get to a point where you have absolutely no problems - as BobK says, there are too many variables: food, stress, lack of sleep, meds, illnesses. I do believe, however, that Heather's diet, along with her other guidelines on stress reduction, exercise, and so on, offer a chance for the best quality of life possible - at least until those nice chemists whip up a magical pill we can all take.

Hi Joe, Yes, unless you have some way of totally eliminating anxiety. That's why a lot of people find that hypno and or taking an SSRI help. Since I've been taking Paxil I've hardly had any IBS attacks due to anxiety.I also recall that Linz said it helped her too. Meditation is another method for addressing anxiety. An Indian friend of mine at school says that's what helped him the most. Unfortunately, I haven 't had a chance to talk with him in depth about it. -Bob

I can't remember if I've said this already, but it's good to see you back.
What's the battle scene picture you're using in your posts?

Hi Sand, I think you did, and thank you again for very nice card! The pic below was actually taken in 1999 in South Africa. The mountain in the background is called Isandlwana and is in Zululand. Th British Army suffered it's worst defeat in it's history on the morning of Jan.22,1879,1300 British soldiers and African allies were wiped out by a Zulu Army of some 10000 men. On the next day, the British Army had it's most spectacular defensive victory at a nearby post called "Rorke's Drift" where 140 men of the 2nd Warwickshire Battalion,24th Regiment of foot,B Company, repelled a ten hour attack of 4000 Zulus. After the Zulus suffered 1500 casulties, they withdrew. B Company lost only 40 men. Eleven Victoria Crosses(highest medal in the army) were awarded to the remaining defenders, by comparison, six Victoria Crosses were awarded in all of World War II. -Bob

Wow! I've heard of Rorke's Drift, although I didn't know the story. Thanks for the info.

Sand, Sure thing. That's impressive that you heard of it! Usually just Civil War reenactors know about it. Hope you're feeling better! -Bob
