Hey ABB,

I'm stable, and have been a long time now. But there's one thing that will trigger an IBS attack for me -- and that's antibiotics! Oy!

The docs and I have tried ALL of them (I get UTIs a lot), and found there's only one I can tolerate: Ciproflaxacin. The instructions state: "This medicine can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. It should not be taken with dairy products or calcium-fortified juices alone, but it can be taken with a meal that contains these products. Drink lots of fluid while taking this medicine." The instructions on Nitrofura Macro (another antibiotic) state it should be taken with food. If your instructions state otherwise, I would follow the instructions, BUT if you note any tummy problems, I'd call the doctor immediately and ask if you could take either of these two instead.

Good luck!
