hi, i bought the acacia fibre and have been taking the lowest dose for a week now yet my bowels seem to be looser than usual and im afraid to use it again, could it be possible that its making me worse? I live in the UK so could i be measuring it wrong as i know American measures are different, Ive been using a spoon we use to stir tea in UK! Help please. thx

Try to use a measuring teaspoon, not just a spoon for tea. At least in the US, our spoons for tea tend to be closer to a measuring tablespoon! I'll bet you're at a far higher dose than the minimum....

I agree...also remember that the lowest dose is quarter of a LEVEL teaspoon. IMHO this is impossible to measure accurately with a normal teaspoon.

When I started the Acacia I used the same measurement that I was using with Benefiber...BIG mistake. I had the same reaction you talk about so IMHO it really could be your using way too much to start with. I slowly worked up to 1 Tablespoon in the a.m. and 1 Tablespoon in the p.m. I use measuring spoons not regular spoons. Good luck.

Like everyone else said, I imagine you're probably inadvertently at a too-high dose.
By the way, I know the site says that fiber won't make your symptoms any worse while you're adjusting, but this just isn't true for everyone. I am at one teaspoon of Acacia per day and it's taken me literally months to get this far. (I started out at 1/4 t.) I'm sticking it out because I feel I have to give it a fair shot and work up to a higher dosage before I can expect to feel any better, but at the same time, I wonder why I'm thinking this is logical. I mean, if a low dose makes me feel so cruddy, then why the heck would a high dose make me feel better? Acacia has been the best out of all the fibers I've tried, though, so I am still recklessly optimistic.
