I got a Bodum Assam 6-Cup Tea Press from amazon.com - Bodum Assam 6-Cup Tea Press and just love it.... my PLAN was to steep it and drink a cup or two and put the rest in the fridge.... but I drink the whole thing every time!! (not that that is a bad thing) it does count as my water intake Maybe I should have gotten the 10-12 cup

The first time I did 2/3 peppermint 1/3 fennel and really liked it.

The second time I did 100% peppermint.... it was GREAT!!

The 3rd time I did the same as the 1st because I wanted the benefits of the fennel and really do like the taste of it... (almost time to order another bag Heather... in about a week or so)

Anyway....just thought I would pass that info on to ya all.

Hey Shell!

How are you liking your tea press? I'm so glad you did this post. I hate doing the muslin tea bags everytime I want tea. I hate cleaning it out too!! So I think I'm going to buy one! You got your's at amazon? How much was shipping?

Thanks!!
Steph

Shell I'm so excited!!! I went to Target today and they had the tea presses there! Mine is a 4 cup and it came with a warmer...like the candel warmers. The pot fit on it great. I haven't used it yet, but plan on doing so in a few!!! How much peppermint do you think I should use?

Ok...better go now!!! THANKS!!

Oh that is great! Let me know how the warmer works for ya. As for the peppermint... if you look at the cylinder where the tea goes, I would fill it to just below where the little holes start.... that way when the peppermint gets wet and expands you will still be able to "press" all the way down. Now that is just how I do it...if I would have followed the directions that came with it, it would have been WAY too weak for my taste.

Happy Pressing!

Hi Shell!

Well so far so good! I still need to work on the strongness of it!! First time I made it it was too strong....second time not enough...so I'll try it like you say this time!

Do you ever have the leaves escape and get in the water? If so what do you do about it? Some of the leaves are small so they have gone through the holes. Let me know if this happens to you!!!

Thanks again!

I have that one (17 oz.) PLUS the one cup, Bodum Yo-Yo set. Love both. The Yo-Yo is a glass cup (about 10 oz.) and plastic mesh infuser with lid. It does not have a press. What I like about it is that NONE of the peppermint flakes come thru like they do with the bigger holes in the 2 cup, and larger presses. I got mine at Cost Plus World Markets but believe you could order one on line. Mines was about $9.95. Now, I would like to have a seperate warmer I could use with both!!! Think I'll have to put one of those little electric coffee cup warmers on my Christmas list and hope it works for both.

Hey Steph! I don't have a tea press - I just make do with a coffee pot & a sieve. Some of the tea leaves get through, but they don't bother me. I just drink them.

If they bother you, is it possible you could line your tea press with a coffee filter? I'm not sure how they work, so don't know if it's possible.

but had nothing but problems! I got it from amazon, and it came in broken. So, I sent it back, and my replacment was broken in the same place! Amazon finally sent me an email saying the problem must be more widespread than they thought and wouldn't send me another, but refunded my money.

I tried from another website, and they wrote back and said they no longer had it in stock.

Where else can I get one of these? Any ideas?

these are essentially the same as their french press coffee presses.. look locally- bodum makes MOST of the ones sold in the states but not all, but the concept is the same for coffee or tea.. actually I think the one for tea has a slightly larger resevoir below the press foot, but it just means you get a slightly smaller amount of overall tea when you press teas into it instead... I could be backwards- mom uses both.. I've been thinking about getting one for me.. or even 2/3... they make them in all sizes, she uses a 1 cuip one for her morning coffee- only caffeine she has all day, and has a few spare for company who wants caffeinated coffee, and uses a larger one for decaf... I've used all of hers at different times ot make teas...

this is different from the coffee ones- I've used those and had no problems though... the coffee ones are tall and thin... and they are designed to restrain coffee grounds, so very little tea ever gets through- leaves that is...
