soy milk dilemma

Well I had long been drinking Eighth Continent Light, but now I found out it has splenda so I guess I have to switch. My local grocery store, but not my delivery grocery store, has Full Circle, which tastes ok but has 31% fat and that makes it too high to drink on an empty stomach. Silk also has that- 3.5g for 100 cals. I don't even like the taste of Silk anyway. So this week I bought from my delivery store 1 silk and 1 eighth cont light. They don't have the regular eighth cont. Anyway it is perplexing. In general I am having the darnedest time with groceries; of the 3 stores I can go to they all have different things I need! Soon I am going to be like my grandma and go to all of them every week! The local store is ok but doesn't have good baguettes. The delivery has good baguettes and good sliced bread but no soy ice cream and they are more expensive. etc etc. What do other people do for soy milk? Is 3.5 grams in 100 cals ok for you?

Have you ever had natural soy milk? It's delicious! No carageenan, no addititives/glutamates.
You could make your own.
Re: Silk soy milk
I think 3.5g fat/100 calories would be the equivalent of 1 percent milk, to compare it to cow's milk.
Perhaps switching to rice milk? In Canada, the only fatfree soy milk is SO GOOD brand.

I wouldn't worry about 3.5g of fat. That's really not a lot at all. A serving of oatmeal has 3g of fat.

My favorite soy milk is Silk Very Vanilla. It is around 25% calories from fat.
I have 8th Continent Fat-Free in my fridge right now. I don't like it as much as the Silk, but it is OK. It does not list Splenda (sucralose) as an ingredient, but it does list fructose.
I have three grocery stores to go to, but I am a maniac about stocking up and freezing stuff, so I visit one grocery store every other week. On occasion this does mean eating saltines and marshmallows for dinner.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm confused. If you have been drinking this milk all this time with no problems, what has changed about it now that you are aware it has splenda? Are you physically unable to drink it now that you know splenda is in it, or is it just not wanting to drink products with splenda? I guess I'm just wondering why you are wanting to change if it is something that you already know you CAN drink because you've been drinking it all along. Obviously, the splenda was not giving you a problem if you have been drinking it all this time without problems. What has made the need for the change? Just curious....

Hrm. That's what I've been drinking most of the time, too, with no problem. What about regular 8th Continent? That's pretty good too. There's another brand I've bought before too. I think it's called Soy Sense, and it's in the refrigerated section along side 8th Continent.

because its the only not pure natural brand that I've found without carageenan... or a sugar sub... works fine for me.. remember you have the milk with other things so the fat content gets balanced... and also trader joes does make a natural soy milk, but I don't love it.. I prefer something thats been mildly sweetened and has no chunks in it!

but I don't always have it with other things. I often drink it in the night, especially if I have to take advil. I am not happy about 31% fat in soy milk! (fat is my trigger)

I want to switch and get away from sucralose because it is bad for IBS and digestion. I didn't know it was splenda before. It is possible that splenda is not bothering me but my strategy with IBS is to avoid anything that could make my stomach upset. I wouldn't dream of purposely ingesting splenda anymore after Heather's article!
Also my online store doesn't have regular Eighth continent, my local store doesn't have it at all. The store in the next town I don't go to often does have it. I think I could try to get my online store to carry it. I hate to have to drive around every week for something important like soy milk. I do like the taste of Eighth Continent.
