Chronic Diarrhea is a common side effect of removing the gallbladder. Look it up on the internet, please. 2 of my family members have had gallbladders removed because of stones and now both live with chronic and permanent diarrhea. They never had any D before the surgery. In fact, they were more likely apt to be Constipated.

Just read up on this before deciding to remove this organ!

They said that the test can make you crampy and nauseated. Were you any of these??? I'm very nervous about the exam.
Thanks,
Michelle

well, I'll be honest-- It wasn't my favorite test. I was so nervous as well b/c I read online about it and didn't want that sick to my stomach and crampy feeling. But, the first hour is nothing-- just laying on this bed where you cannot move--its uncomfortable b/c of that, but nothing painful at all. Then they inject the CCK into you-- I got very nautious and they put a basin by me just in case--I did not throw up, and my nurse said almost no one ever does b/c it passes quickly. I also had stomach pains for a bit. The nurse told me it goes away in 8 minutes (which sounded way too long to me!) Mine lasted maybe 4-5 and then I was completely better! It was strange, but I left feeling fine. So go in expecting a bit of discomfort for a few minutes and you'll leave relieved--its not too horrible at all!

I have always been IBS-D/A more D, but the majority of my attacks have always happened during the night and wakes me from a sound sleep. My specialist cannot explain it and it's very frustrating and wears me out, especially when I'm up for 3-4 hours with cramping and D, than I have to go to work............I'm so sorry this is happening to you, I just lay on the couch with the heating pad on my tummy, fix me some fennel tea and just pray a lot until it's over. Good Luck

it was on my right side-- but also seemed to be right in the middle of my stomach. For years, a doctor couldn't press there or I'd scream, but when the gallbladder got so bad, the pain started radiating into my right back area as well! not fun!
