Anybody have this problem??

Hi,
I'm new to the boards. I just started having IBS symptoms (severely enough to go to the doctor anyway), for the past month or so. I have not had any tests done and I have not been formally diagnosed, but my doctor believes that what i have is IBS, and based on the descriptions I've found, I'm pretty sure it is. My symptoms are generally mild...loose BM's, but only in the morning, not all day, and not everyday either...but lots and lots of gas and bloating. The one thing that worries me is that I will randomly get this strange spasm-like feelings in my abdomen. It feels different from gas gurgling around, and it isn't particularly painful, but it startles me when it happens. It just feels weird. Anybody else have this???

I also have gotten minor spasms that feel fluttery. I do think they are another effect of gas but I am not sure. Good luck with managing your symptoms! Bloating is the toughest. Do board searches to retrieve tons of wonderful info!

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
