Well, I always thought it contributed to gas and D, but then I was eating those Thai Noodles and they contain some casein but I didn't have a problem. This is why I'm thinking of trying the almond cheese again...even though I swore off cheese subs. Still, I had a couple of attacks a few weeks ago and that was during a time I was eating a lot of Thai Noodles...so I'm still wondering about this. Also, I'd prefer being dairy-free. I don't know! I'm a flip-flopper when it comes to dairy subs as you as can see.

Other than the Thai Noodles experience(see a reply above)--I don't know! But do I really want to find out? I think I'm at a place where I'm ready for some more experimenting, although it seems to me that casein and carrageenan go together in so many dairy subs... Ah, I guess it's worth a try...I've craving some almond cheese melted on black beans and rice.

Yeah, I'd like to hear what the cheddar cheese tasted like. Thanks!

I haven't done "cheese" in about ten months, except for the Galaxy Vegan Soy Parmesan. There is this Mexican recipe called sopes (thick corn tortilla-type cakes filled w/ refried beans, cheese) that I'd like to make a safe version of. A friend made them for me once with Lisanatti Almond Cheddar and ALmond Jalapeņo Jack cheese and black beans AND IT TASTED DELICIOUS!

Beth, Casein is glue like subtance, it can cause stool to stick to the colon wall. There's a bunch of info on it at www.notmilk.com. -Bob

It's on the classic trigger list - I thought you'd been following a "safe" diet.

Actually, I've heard really good reports about this 'faux cheese' (especially the mozzarella flavour). I have one concern, though re: fat content. I'm not sure what the number is offhand, however when I noticed it at the store it did look rather high to me.

NO, I don't eat it at all. I don't eat any foods that are questionable...even one's that aren't on the list like carageenan.
I was just thinking about trying some rice cheese with casein because quite a few people seem to be okay with it. I don't think I will chance anything until, and if, I ever feel better.
Linz, when I read your subject line, I thought you were telling me to "cut it out" as in posting questions. I am having a particularly "food/supplement/symptom" questioning week on the boards. I haven't been feeling well, and my body is not liking the Acacia so far. Just another disappointing experience which is not going well. I was so hoping the Acacia would work for me.
